GEORGIA MUSIC EDUCATION – Music Machine Laurie Spiegel

Laurie Spiegel was born in Chicago (September 20, 1945) where in her teens she played guitar, banjo, and mandolin, and through them cultivated a devout philosophy of amateur music making. After receiving a degree in the social sciences, she returned to music. Having taught herself notation, she studied classic guitar and composition privately in London, then baroque and renaissance lute at Julliard, and composition with Jacob Druckman and Vincent Persichetti.

Georgia Songbird Musician EG Kight from Dublin Georgia

Known as a true blues vocalist, early on in her career EG Kight was nicknamed the “Georgia Songbird.” Eugenia Gail Kight, mostly commonly pronouced as EG Kight, was born in Dublin, Georgia. She came from a a musical family and at the age of five her talented grandmother taught her to play the guitar. She even got to watch Elvis Presley perform in Macon, Georgia.

EG Kight sticks to her Georgia roots and in 2002, she performed at the ceremony when a statue of the song’s writer, Otis Redding, was unveiled at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. The same year, Blue South Records released Trouble. Southern Comfort followed the next year with Chuck Leavell playing piano. GEORGIA MUSIC FESTIVAL – SAVANNAH STOPOVER March 9-11 @ Savannah Historic Distoric

The 7th anniversary of the Savannah Stopover Music Festival is taking place March 9th to 11th. It’s the perfect gig for touring bands across the country on their way down Interstate-95 and across I-10. Over 70 bands will perform on 10-12 different stages at various venues in the historic district with capacities ranging from 120-700. The event is expected to draw over 7,500 festival goers.

As the festival has grown, more and more regional and national acts of the established nature have decided to make Savannah Stopover a destination in its’ own right.

Savannah Stopover is booking a minimum of 5 Sonicbids artists for the 2017 festival.
